Summer's Ending

For the record, I don't like the "Indiana hot" weather we've been having!  You'll never hear me complain in the winter about the cold.  I figure I can always add a sweater or coat or gloves.  But there's nothing positive in my mind about 95 and humid.  I'm not complaining, I'm just saying...

That being said, it's been a great summer in my corner of Indiana.  The corn and soybeans are amazing, and it seems we're on the way to record crops in the state.  Shirley and I have so enjoyed fresh sweet corn, tomatoes, cucumbers and green beans.  I don't think I can ever remember a summer like this one - when the grass has remained green all through July and August because we've gotten rain every five days or so.  The land is lush!

The "You Asked For It" summer sermon series has done well.  I've greatly enjoyed the variety and depth of the questions submitted by the congregation.  They have spoken to deep faith and real life.  And the feedback I've had indicates God has taken the messages and applied them generously to the hearts of His people - like the rain we've had through the summer.  His Grace is lush!

Shirley and I were able to take a couple of days at the end of July and visit our daughter in Wilmore, Kentucky.  It was a relaxing trip and it was great to see her.  We've "skyped" with our son and daughter-in-law in Colorado Springs and given them a look at our new "spikey" hair styles.  Our children are now young men and women of maturity, faith and integrity, and I am so proud of them.  Family love is lush!

God has shown us His grace in abundance.  It looks like a record crop of joys and blessings.  May Jesus Christ be praised!
