Educational Philosophy

Each child attending the Dayton United Methodist Church Preschool will practice the skills needed to begin kindergarten. These include counting, recognizing colors, shapes, letters, and numbers, and writing his or her name. The students will participate in daily calendar activities, stories, songs and group activities. Children will have a wide variety of hands on art, science, and sensory experiences.

Children will also learn social skills such as playing cooperatively, following instructions, listening to storybooks, participating in group discussions, using appropriate table manners, and caring for their bodies. Your child will be strengthened by individual and group activities which inspire creativity and discovery. Playful learning and stimulating activities make school fun and enjoyable.

All children (ages 3-5) enrolled in Daycare also attend preschool from the months of August to May. This is at no extra cost.

Spiritual Growth

Each week new Bible stories and characters are shared with the children. The children attend a weekly chapel service with our children's pastor, Eric Bailey. Children learn of God's love and care for them. We pray before each snack. We strive to make Jesus part of every aspect of our daily activities.

Each spring semester we celebrate preschool graduation with the children who will be attending kindergarten the following fall.
