Dayton UMC Preschool

Mission

It is our desire & purpose to provide a safe, loving, Christian environment for the children of our community and to create a learning environment appropriate to each child's stage of development which will facilitate growth intellectually, emotionally, socially, physically, and spiritually.  Our goal is to serve our community!

Objectives

Children will learn those skills needed to begin kindergarten; how to tie their shoes, counting, distinguishing letters and numbers, printing, giving proper address and phone number, etc.  Children will learn social skills such as table manners, following instructions, sharing in a group, and personal care.  We also have a science curriculum which will introduce your child to different animals and wildlife.  Your child will be strengthened by individual & group activities which inspire creativity and discovery.  Learning will be fun and in no way stressful for your child.

Schedule

Our program consists of a morning and afternoon session.  The morning session runs from 8:30 a.m. until 11:20 a.m., Monday - Friday.  Our afternoon session runs from 12:30 p.m. until 3:20 p.m., Monday - Friday.

8:30 - 9:00         Supervised play

9:00 - 10:00       Station time and "one-on-one" time with the teachers

10:00 - 10:30     Bible story, Pledge of Allegiance, calendar, and prayer

10:30 - 11:00     Paper and snack

11:00 - 11:15     Recess

11:15 - 11:20     Song and dismissal

Our afternoon schedule will be a repeat of the morning session.

Additional information

We follow the same schedule as the Tippecanoe School Corporation.  When TSC is closed due to inclimate weather, Dayton preschool will be closed.  When TSC kindergarten is canceled, Dayton preschool is canceled as well.

Our preschool is open to all children, ages 3-6 years, regardless of religion or race, whose needs we are equipped to meet.

Once our capacity is reached, a waiting list will be maintained in the following order of priority.

1.  Children of families who presently have a child enrolled in our preschool.

2.  The Dayton United Methodist Church family.

3.  The general public.
